Diocese of Ogdensburg Announces Independent Compensation and Reconciliation Program (IRCP) for Clergy Sex Abuse Survivors
The Diocese of Ogdensburg is providing aid to survivors of clergy sex abuse through a new program called the Independent Reconciliation and Compensation Program (IRCP). Announced on March 1, 2018 by Bishop Terry LaValley, the program allows those who have already reported abuse to the Diocese to confidentially seek settlements from the church.
The Ogdensburg Diocese comprises Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties and the northern portions of Hamilton and Herkimer counties.
The program, which is run by third-party administrators, is voluntary and open to survivors who have already come forward and reported their abuse to the Diocese. The deadline to file a claim is May 31, 2018.
If you were abused by a priest or deacon in the Ogdensburg Diocese, an experienced attorney can help you learn more about the IRCP program and whether you are eligible.
