Syracuse Diocese Announces Compensation Plan for Clergy Sex Abuse Survivors
Following similar efforts in New York City and Long Island, the Syracuse Diocese has announced that it is establishing a compensation program for survivors of clergy sex abuse. If you were abused in the Syracuse Diocese, Lawyers Helping Survivors of Child Sex Abuse can help you evaluate your legal options and assist you with registering for the program, if you are eligible.
The Diocese’s Independent Reconciliaton and Compensation Program (IRCP) is currently only open to those that have already reported abuse to the Diocese sometime in the past. Through the program, these survivors can confidentially pursue settlements with the church.
The IRCP will be run by two independent administrators who have led similar programs for survivors in the New York Archdiocese and Brooklyn and Rockville Centre dioceses. The Syracuse Diocese encompasses Broome, Chenango, Cortland, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga and Oswego counties in New York.
Lawyers Helping Survivors of Child Sex Abuse is dedicated to providing aid and legal support to survivors. While survivors may participate in the program by themselves, our attorneys can help answer any questions about the Syracuse Diocese’s IRCP program and your legal options as a survivor of clergy sex abuse.
